June 20, 2011 - Grapheur 2.0 with Support for Windows and Mac OS X.

Brand new version 2.0 covering the most used operating systems is out for testing.

The new release 2.0 adds:

Full compatibility with Windows and Mac OS X (Unix coming soon).
Simplified user interaction to speed-up exploration.

Oct 25, 2010 - Sweeping through data at full speed.

Imagine that you want to see the evolution of a process in time, for example to discover how a situation changed during the last ten years. Now you can do it with the new "sweep" tab integrated in Grapheur. Just select the data column you want to sweep and then click the "play" icon to generate a movie showing how your visualization changes for different values of the chosen column. Time is an example, you can of course sweep through any categorical or time column in your data.

The new sweep function works as follows:

Select your visualizations as usual (for example a histogram and a bubble-chart, or a parallel coordinate display, etc.)
Click on the new "sweep" tab on the left of the Grapheur window.
Choose your variable to guide the sweep (this is the variable that will change during the sweep progress, for example the time but not only that).
Move the slider of click the play button to start the sweep. All visualization active in your window will be swept in complete synchronization . For example you can see how a histogram and a bubble chart of the same data change as a function of time, or as a function of the selected sweep variable.

Sep 20, 2010 - Grapheur supports dates, names, (categories) and geographical coordinates .

Due to popular demand, in addition to standard numerical values, Grapheur can now handle input data consisting of dates, categories (names), and geographical coordinates. Furthermore, the user can easily check the intelligent input module results and change types of columns if desired.

New functionalities include:

Intelligent interpretation of the data column type: after reading the column content a proper type is automatically assigned (number, date, name/category, geographical coordinates).
The user can override the assigned types by quickly choosing from a set of alternatives compatible with the data contained in the column. For example, a column containing numbers can be assigned the "category" type, this can be appropriate if the number represents and ID.
The different visualizations are now aware of the type. For example, in the parallel coordinate display, categories can be used to filter subsets of the original data.
Checking and possibly changing the data types is done once, the result is then saved and ready for future explorations.
Additional type-aware operations like plotting geographical maps under geographical coordinates will come very soon (actually already available for selected demos).

July 1, 2010 - Grapheur 1.0 (build 200) is out.

Again, thanks to all our users for their precious feedback. As you will see, many of your suggestions have been incorporated in the last release.

New functionalities include:

a neural network model trainer, which can be used to predict output values for a continuous range of input parameters;
significant improvements to the 3D Navigation and 7D Plot sections;
integration with Excel by means of a single button press;
an application for the interactive visualization of multi-variable function output, suitable for the brand new Grapheur's neural network.
